Pressed in late October, Frescobaldi Laudemio "First Pressing" is a luscious emerald green color. We found it to have a clear forest green color and the flavor is full of artichoke. Packaged in a gift box.
2016 Tasting Notes: A robust, sophisticated blend of the classic Tuscan olives from the Marchesi De’ Frescobaldi estates—primarily of the Frantoio variety. Experience the pungency of bay leaf and the bitter astringency of artichoke; each taste delights with a firecracker sparkle that warms the mouth and follows with a long, lingering finish.
Suggestions for Use: Pour over grilled or pan-seared steaks, or drizzle over a bowl of creamy stewed cannellini beans.
This estate is located in the hills of Chianti Rufina. All producers of Laudemios must adhere to strict guidelines established by the Laudemio consortium. The Frescobaldi Laudemio is consistently rated "exceptional."
Notes on the harvest: the trees sit well over 500 meters above sea level on some of the highest points of the Tuscan Apennines, The groves are full of "green healthy olives, unlike any of the lower altitudes near the Arno River,” says the producer.
Serve with winter soups, farro, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, and risotto.
Olive cultivars: Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino.
