Azienda Del Carmine Sampler Gift Set 2008

CAR-007
Whether a gift for someone else or for yourself, this charming sampler offers the best from Marche – and some may say the best from Italy.
Azienda del Carmine grows both olives and grapes (for their notable Verdicchio di Matelica DOC) and the enclosed valley runs north to south. This this growing area is unique among the valleys of the Marche region, as the others open towards the Adriatic. The climate is continental with cold winters, hot summers and a wide daily temperature range; this microclimate enhances the characteristics of the vine and the olive trees.
Antonio and Antonella Roversi work in partnership to guide the successes at Azienda Del Carmine. They have developed products with a strong personality. For olive oil aficionados, the “single varieties” are exceptional. Each is extracted from a single variety--frantoio, leccino, ascolana--which present their singular purity in Olio de la Marchia.
Olio del Carmine represents the first olive oil produced by Azienda del Carmine. It is a blend of Leccino, Frantoio, Pendolino, and Carboncella. Medium fruity and green with aromas of fresh grass, almond, and the leaf of tomato. The flavor is persistent with both sweet and spicy characteristics.
Olio del Carmine has won numerous awards. Among them it was awarded Due (Two) Olive recognition from Slow Food. June 2008, this oil received a Gold Medal at the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition.
Olio de la Marchia - Frantoio - Those who appreciate Tuscan oils will want to sample the Frantoio monocultivar, as it is green with a strong, fruity taste and scent of almond. The taste starts sweet and develops bitter and spicy. It is suitable for “bruschetta” and meat.
Olio de la Marchia - Leccino - features a delicate, fruity taste, with a hint of grass and artichoke. The three components: sweet, bitter and spicy are very well balanced. June 2009 Leccino won a Silver Medal at the Los Angeles International Awards.
Olio de la Marchia – Ascolana - is considered to be the top selection at Azienda del Carmine, and it has won numerous awards. Among them it was awarded Tre Olive, the highest recognition from Slow Food. Further it has received top honors (Best of Class and Gold Medals) at the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition in 2006, 2007, and in 2008. Silver medal in 2009. Gran Menzione 2009 at SOL d'Oro at Vinitaly. Special mention at: "Leone d'Oro - Mastri Oleari".
