This lovely selection of three Frantoio Franci Extra Virgin Olive Oils features the notable Villa Magra dei Franci, along with the classic Tuscan, Le Trebbiane, and the Seggianese monocultivar.

Villa Magra dei Franci is known for its fruity flavor and excellent taste. Produced in the hills near Orcia and Montalcino from the varieties Frantoio "Correggiolo" (50%), Moraiolo (35%), Leccino (15%). This oil has the classic flavors of Tuscan olive oil. Along with the Gran Cru selection, these oils are among the best of Italian oils.

Le Trebbiane features medium fruity taste, from the Montenero d'Orcia, in Coastal Tuscany. A nice, well balanced and moderately fruity selection from this well regarded producer. The oil is made with a blend of the classic Tuscan varieties -- Frantoio (40%), Moraiolo (10%), and Leccino (40%) -- giving it a broad flavor, with hints of artichoke and tomato, without being too peppery. Good when paired with Tuscan soup, salad, fish, and fresh vegetables.

Olivastra Seggianese is mildly fruity, good olive aroma, with delicate, well-rounded taste. A mono-cultivar from Frantoio Franci, the Olivastra Seggianese uses 100% olivastra variety of olives. The aroma is clearly of olives, with hints of vegetables, particularly artichoke, and maybe a hint of banana. The taste is delicate, well-rounded, and a balance of herbaceous and fruity tastes. This selection is good with fish and mayonnaise -- anywhere that you want an oil that is not overpowering like its Tuscan big brothers. Very low acidity (0.12%). In May 2008 Seggianese was recognized by Slow Food, Gil Extravergini Tre Olive 2008.
