Marfuga L'affiorante Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2012

SKU MRG-007
**Just received “ORO DELL’UMBRIA” 2013 for the quality of their olive oil production.**

Extra-virgin olive oil Marfuga L’affiorante is the first olive oil of the season at the Marfuga estate. Freshly picked in October, the oil is produced from slightly pre-mature, hand-picked monocultivar, 100% Moraiolo olives.

This fruity and fragrant olive oil is a delicacy on the table of even the most demanding and refined customer. This green, unfiltered oil is intensely fruity and elegantly scented of leaves and grass. The taste is round, smooth and full-bodied, expressing a gentle reminder of fresh grass and olives, with a bitter and slightly spicy after-taste. Noted to have well-balanced fruity, bitter, and spicy elements.

The unmistakable olive taste--and sharp, bitter after-taste--comes from the naturally rich chemical qualities that modern medicine claims fundamental in the fight against the signs of aging. Marfuga is in the highest antioxidant/polyphenol classification by Unaprol.

The unfiltered bottling process preserves the precious olive particles, leaving an intense, full-bodied olive oil. Very limited production of only 1500 Liters per year.

For those seeking the benefits of hydroxytyrosol, Marfuga contains a high level of antioxidants and high polyphenols, the total phenolic compounds came in at 584. Very low acidity (0.14%).

Combines well with savory dishes, and is particularly tasty with legumes, soups, roasted food, grilled meat, and high quality white fish.

Each 500 ml. bottle is numbered and gift boxed.

In recent years Marfuga L’afforiante has already been recognized 5 Gocce for regional excellence by the noted Associazione Italiana Sommelier dell’Olio, as well as granted "olio Extra Veggine dell'Emozione" by Slow Food. Gambero Rosso has granted 3 Leaves, and L'Orciolo d'Oro has pronounced Gran Menzione in the Fruttato Medio category.
