From the century-old olive grove on a family estate in Montefiridolfi, comes Rosselli del Turco Extra Virgin Olive Oil, certified DOP by the Chianti Classico Consortium. The family estate also produces wine under Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) label.
The estate’s vineyards and olive groves extend over the hillsides around Montefiridolfi where the Castle towers over the enchanting Pesa Valley.
The particularly favorable climatic conditions and the careful management of the estate allow for the harvest of the olives at the right moment. Each day during the harvest the fresh olives are pressed together, with the blending of the varietals to obtain a harmonious olive oil, with a fruity aroma, a balanced taste in bitter/spice and a high level of polyphenols.
You’ll find the taste to be deep and fruity, medium-to-intense in strength; its aroma is rich in hints of fresh green grass, with an underlying taste of artichokes, a somewhat bitter to the palate and with a latent peppery finish.
Harvest and production: the olives are harvested, when semi-ripe, from the end of October to the end of November. They are hand-harvested directly from the tree and cold-pressed within 24 hours in a modern continuous-cycle plant. After a slight filtering the oil is stored in stainless steel vats. Bottling takes place in the olive-pitcher cellars on the estate.
This has been long requested by Americans who have visited the enchanting estate.
