Grown on a hillside above Lucca, this Organic certified oil is rich, full-bodied and sweet. Very buttery!
San Macario enhances the flavor of food rather than asserting itself. It includes a blend of four different types of olives-- frantoiano, leccino, pendolino and moraiolo-- all grown on the hill where the unique microclimate of Lucca is the ideal environment in which this special flavor develops. The leccino olive gives the olive oil its rounder-sweeter flavor.
The beautiful label illustration featuring the Saint, San Macario, on the road below the olive orchards, is a dramatic reinforcement of the local roots of the brand. This is a powerful connection to the history of Lucca, where pilgrims made their journey along the Via Francigena, or “pilgrim road”, for centuries.
