This selection from Franci is the best of the line - from the hills of Montenero d'Orcia at an altitude of 350-450 meters, hand-picked in October. A monocultivar of Frantoio olives with a fresh herbaceous scent, with overtones of artichoke, almonds, and flowers. Some are able to detect hints of cherry.
The flavor is bold, spicy, and complex. Excellent with vegetables, meats, and fish. This works well with full-flavored foods and simply with pastas.
Frantoio Franci grows the olives for VMGC with a goal of producing the highest health benefits, measured as hydroxytyrosol and polyphenols. Outstanding polyphenols; previous year noted at 544 mg/kg.
Current harvest: Flos Olei (98/100), Flos Olei 2016 (98/100). THREE leaves from Gambero Rosso and Best of the World, Monocultivar, Frantoio, Concorso Internazionale Expo. Slow Food Grand Oli, 2013. Flos Olei 2014.
The cream of the crop from Frantoio Franci. Villa Magra Gran Cru has won several Slow Food Awards. GOLD MEDAL winner, Robust Category, Los Angeles Olive Oil Awards, June 2010.
