Los Angeles 2015 Gold Medal

New to the market and an early award winner, “1979” is outstanding. But, what is the reason behind the name? That’s the year the grove was planted. The artisan olive farmers at Fonte di Foiano have yet another winner with 1979. This oil is a blend of Frantoio (60%) and Moraiolo (40%) olives, harvested in October. This line has a new label with the 2017 harvest.

Granted Flos Olei 2016 (96/100),  New York International Olive Oil Competition 2016, Gold Medal, Sol D'Oro Northern Hemisphere International Competition 2016, Special Mentions: Intensely Fruity Olive Oil Category, Best in Class at the New York Olive Oil Competition (2015) and Gold Medal at Los Angeles (2015), Silver Medal at the New York Olive Oil Competition (2014), this is a robust oil, as one would expect with this olive blend. Just a couple of weeks after the NY Competition, this oil was awarded a GOLD Medal at Los Angeles. Award of Excellence at Copenhagen (June 2014).

1979 is intensely fruity with notes of grass, artichoke, and tomato leaf. It is both spicy and bitter, with very long persistence in the finish. Excellent profile with polyphenol level of 879.

The new label features 1979 as Millenovecentosettantanove.

Recent years' bottling of Fonte di Foiano's olive oils have been recognized by Slow Food, Bibenda L'olio 2011 and 2012 - 4 drops, Los Angeles (Silver, 2011; Gold 2012); Der Feinshmecker 2012: Grand Cru, Moriaolo and Pendolino, Top 250 of the World. Additionally, the Fonte di Foiano has garnered awards and recognition from Flos Olei 2015 (Best Emerging Farm) and Gino Celletti.

The polyphenol level? 940 mg/kg.
