From the Natisone Valley, Dubolò Gubane produces "La Gubana", a traditional leavened cake from the most northeastern region of Italy, Friuli Venezia Giulia. This cake is rich with walnuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts, and raisins!
Its name comes from the word "Gubanza (pronounced Hu-banza)- the wooden cupboard where it was stored safely, far from the reach of children.
This cake is filled with fruit, nuts, and honey, a recipe dating back hundreds of years.
