Giodà’s cipolle in agrodolce are made with Calabria’s renowned cipolle rosse di Tropea (Tropea red onions), which are known for their natural sweetness and enticing aroma. This versatile condiment consists of crisp slices of red onions prepared agrodolce—in a sweet-sour brine made with red wine vinegar and sugar—then marinated in extra virgin olive oil.
Grown along Calabria’s Tyrrhenian coast, Tropea red onions are among the most delicious you can find in nature. Their distinctive taste is attributed to the region’s unique terroir and proximity to the coast.
Enjoy these sweet, tangy onions as part of an aperitivo or serve on crostini alongside cheese. As a side dish they particularly complement seafood such as swordfish or tuna. Add a punch of flavor and crunch to sandwiches, salads, and grain bowls. Giovanna tells us that customers often finish the jar in minutes!
Ingredients: Red onion, red wine vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, salt. Made without dyes or preservatives. Produced in a facility that handles nuts, fish, salt. Store in a cool dry place. Cover with extra virgin olive oil and refrigerate after opening.
