description

Frantoio Bonamini is in the Illasi Hills near Verona in the Veneto region. Giancarlo and Sabrina Bonamini bring energy and careful skill to their olive oil production. This production, Gemuto, celebrates the 160th birthday of Italian poet and novelist, Gabriele D’Annunzio.

D’Annunzio’s estate, known as Vittoriale degli Italiani, is in the hillside town of Gardone Riviera, above Lake Garda in the province of Brescia, in Lombardia. Gemuto is the extra virgin olive oil produced from the hundreds years old olive trees surrounding the Vittoriale Degli Italiani, which is a group of buildings, roads, squares, an outdoor theatre, gardens and streams built since 1921 in Gardone Riviera, on the shores of Lake Garda, by the famous Italian poet Gabriele d’Annunzio in memory of the “inimitable life” of the poet-soldier and the Italian endeavor during World War I.

Frantoio Bonamini participated in the challenge, to produce olive oil from the 500 trees - hundreds of years old -- surrounding the estate, Vittoriale degli Italiani. Thus, Gemuto was born!

On the label, "dal puro frutto degli annosi olivi...che cantan pacel n lor linguaggio muto..." translates "from the pure fruit of ancient olive trees...who sing peace in their silent language."

The name “Gemuto” was picked to honor the renowned verses from D’Annunzio’s poems collection, “Alcyone” and the elegant label was specifically designed for celebrating the poet and its writing.

Gemuto presents as a yellowish color with some green shades; its aroma is the typical smell of a ripe fruity olive oil using only fresh and fully ripe olives, mild tending to sweet. In the mouth it is full and fragrant with a very pleasant aroma. Thanks to these tasting features it can be paired with lake fish dishes and recipes, and also white meat, meat and fish carpaccio, pinzimonio, raw veggies, vegetarian bruschetta and creamy and fresh cheeses such as mozzarella, ricotta or stracchino.
